Decision CRTC 84-917
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Trois-Rivières, Quebec - 841182900
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1984-221 dated 28 August 1984, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CBF-8-FM Trois-Rivières by changing the frequency from 100.1 MHz (channel 261C1) to 88.1 MHz (channel 201B).
This change in frequency will not affect the station's coverage area and is in accordance with the CBC's Long Range Radio Plan and the Commission's policy, stated in Public Notice CRTC 1983-22, that the CBC use the non-commercial, educational channels for its FM stations wherever possible.
In Decision CRTC 83-398, the Commission approved the CBC's application to amend the broadcasting licence for CBF-FM-1 Trois-Rivières by relocating the facilities and antenna site from Drummondville to Trois-Rivières and decreasing the effective radiated power from 50,000 to 47,000 watts. This approval was conditional upon the CBC selecting one of the frequencies available in the Trois-Rivières area, in accordance with the Department of Communications' FM Allotment Plan.
Following discussions with the CBC, the Commission has accepted the CBC's proposal to establish CBF-FM-1 Trois-Rivières on the frequency 104.3 MHz (channel 282C1). The Commission notes that there are no suitable non-commercial channels available for this station. It also expects the CBC to fulfill its commitment to implement this proposal concurrently with the change in frequency for CBF-8-FM Trois-Rivières, authorized herein, within the next twelve to fourteen months.
