Decision

Ottawa, 27 January 1984
Decision CRTC 84-47
The Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TV Ontario)
Bearskin Lake, Dorion, Redditt, Sachigo Lake and Sandy Lake, Ontario - 831140900 - 831980800 - 831979000 - 831150800 - 831143300
Following a Public Hearing in Hull, Quebec on 15 November 1983, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announces that it approves the applications noted above by the Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TV Ontario) for broadcasting licences for the following television stations, to rebroadcast TV Ontario programs originating from CICA-TV Toronto.
Transmitter Power/ Location/Endroit Channel/Canal Puissance de l'émetteur (watts)
Bearskin Lake 9 5 Dorion 6 10 Redditt 5 10 Sachigo Lake 9 5 Sandy Lake 8 10
The Commission will issue licences expiring 30 September 1986, subject to the conditions of licence specified in this decision and in the licences to be issued. This term will enable the Commission to consider renewal of these licences at the same time as that of CICA-TV.
The Commission notes that these applications form part of a long-term project to extend the TV Ontario service throughout northern Ontario by satellite.
The channels approved by this decision are unprotected channels. Accordingly, the licensee would have to select another channel for the operation of any of these stations should optimum utilization of the broadcasting spectrum so require.
Each licence will be subject to the condition that construction of the station be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or such further period as the Commission may, upon receipt of a request for extension before the expiry of the said twelve months, deem appropriate under the circumstances.
J.G. Patenaude Secretary General
