Decision

Ottawa, 12 January 1984
Decision CRTC 84-15
Northern Native Broadcasting, Yukon
Whitehorse, Yukon Territory - 821827300
Following a Public Hearing in Edmonton on 14 November 1983, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announces that it approves the application for a broadcasting licence for an English and native-language FM radio station at Whitehorse on the frequency 88.9 MHz, channel 205, with an effective radiated power of 0.6 watt.
The Commission will issue a licence expiring 30 September 1987, subject to the conditions of licence specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued. This term will enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence at the same time as that of other FM radio stations in the region.
It is a condition of licence that construction of the station be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision, or such further period as the Commission may, upon receipt of a request for extension before the expiry of the said twelve months, deem appropriate under the circumstances.
The frequency approved by this decision is an unprotected frequency. Accordingly, the licensee would have to select another frequency for the operation of the station should optimum utilization of the broadcasting spectrum so require.
