Application by LE RÉSEAU DES SPORTS (RDS) INC. to amend the broadcasting licence for the national French-language specialty programming undertaking known as Le Réseau des Sports (RDS).

 

RDS' licence is currently subject to conditions of licence related to industry codes on gender portrayal and the depiction of violence.

 

This application requests that the current conditions be replaced by "suspensive" conditions on the same matters, meaning that the application of the conditions would be suspended, so long as RDS remains a member in good standing of the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council.

 

The requested change requires an amendment to RDS's licence to replace conditions of licence #8 and #10.

The licensee proposes to add an FM transmitter atLong Plain Indian Reserve to offer the programming of CINC-FM to adequately serve the population of Long Plain Indian Reserve.

 

The transmitter will operate on frequency
101.7 MHz (channel 269LP) with an effective radiated power of 37.8 watts.

 

The addition of the transmitter will require an amendment to the licence of CINC-FM Thompson, the mother station.

The licensee states that the proposed change will improve CIWV-FM's signal within commercial and high rise buildings in its licensed market, without extending coverage into any new markets.

 

This application requires an amendment to the licence.
