Decision CRTC 2001-493

Ottawa, 13 August 2001

Homegrown Community Radio
Killaloe and Wilno, Ontario
2001-0400-3

Application processed by Public Notice CRTC 2001-64 dated 5 June 2001

Addition of a transmitter of CHCR-FM Killaloe at Wilno

1.

The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CHCR-FM Killaloe (the originating station), by authorizing the licensee to add a transmitter at Wilno.

2.

As proposed, the new FM transmitter will operate on frequency 104.5 MHz (channel 283LP) with an effective radiated power of 35 watts.

3.

The applicant states that the proposed transmitter will enable the licensee to adequately serve the population of Wilno.

4.

The authority will be effective and the licence will be amended only at such time as:

· the licensee confirms in writing that it is ready to begin operation of the transmitter. This must take place within 12 months of today's date. Any request for an extension to that deadline requires Commission approval and must be made in writing within that period.

· the Department of Industry, having advised that the application is conditionally technically acceptable, has determined that there is no unacceptable interference with NAV/COM services and indicated that it will issue a broadcasting certificate (section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act).

5.

The technical parameters approved in this decision are for a low-power unprotected FM service. The applicant would have to select other frequencies if required to do so to permit the best use of the frequency band.
