Decision CRTC 2001-167

Ottawa, 6 March 2001

Subject: APPROVED - Application 2001-0396-1
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation - CBFX-FM Montréal, Quebec
Extension - Addition of a transmitter at Gaspé, Quebec

Dear Madam:

This is in reference to your application of 23 February 2001 to extend the implementation date for an FM transmitter at Gaspé to broadcast the programming of "la Chaîne culturelle" for the radio programming undertaking CBFX-FM Montréal, Quebec.

The Commission grants a three (3) month extension, namely until 25 May 2001. This extension does not however relieve the applicant of the responsibility to complete the construction of the transmitter at an earlier date.

The authorization will only be effective at such time as the transmitter is constructed and ready to begin operation. Consequently, the applicant is required to notify the Commission, in writing, prior to 25 May 2001 or prior to the expiry of any further extension that may be granted (following an application filed prior to the expiry of this or any other extension) once it has completed construction of the transmitter at Gaspé and is prepared to commence operation.

Should the work not be completed within the period stipulated in this decision or should the Commission deny a new application for extension filed by the licensee, the authorization will expire and become null upon expiry of the period of time granted in this decision or upon expiry of the last approved extension period.

This decision is to be appended to the licence.

Yours truly,

Ursula Menke
Secretary General
