Decision

Ottawa, 10 February 1999
Decision CRTC 99-35
Okanagan Radio Limited
Kelowna and Big White Ski Village, British Columbia - 199802020 - 199802038Public Notice dated 18 December 1998
Summary
The licensee has requested that the authority for the transmitter CKBL-FM-1 Big White Ski Village (approved for CKBL Kelowna), be added to the licence for CHSU-FM Kelowna. The Commission notes that, as a result, the programming broadcast on CKBL-FM-1 will now originate from CHSU-FM. This change is reflected in the amendments set out below.
1.  The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CKBL Kelowna by deleting the authority for the transmitter CKBL-FM-1 Big White Ski Village.
2.  The Commission also approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CHSU-FM Kelowna by adding the authority for the transmitter CKBL-FM-1 Big White Ski Village, operating on frequency 98.1 MHz, (channel 251LP), with an effective radiated power of 18 watts.
3.  The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable. The Department will only issue a Broadcasting Certificate once it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
4.  In accordance with section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the above-mentioned amendment will only be valid when the Department of Industry certifies to the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a Broadcasting Certificate has been or will be issued.
