Decision

Ottawa, 26 October 1994
Decision CRTC 94-816
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Chetwynd, British Columbia - 940366800

Addition of a transmitter

Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-109 dated 30 August 1994, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CBYG-FM Prince George (the originating station), by authorizing the licensee to add a transmitter at Chetwynd, operating on frequency 93.5 MHz (channel 228A) with an effective radiated power of 180 watts.
The proposed FM transmitter will replace CBUZ Chetwynd. The CBC will cease operation of CBUZ within twelve months following the implementation of the new transmitter.
The Department of Industry, Science and Technology (DIST) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DIST that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
