Decision CRTC 94-804
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Fort Resolution, Northwest Territories - 932167000

Addition of a transmitter

Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-96 dated 11 August 1994, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CFYK Yellowknife (the originating station), by authorizing the licensee to add a transmitter at Fort Resolution, operating on frequency 105.1 MHz (channel 286A1) with an effective radiated power of 87 watts.
The proposed FM transmitter will replace CBQD Fort Resolution. According to the CBC, the
proposed transmitter will provide the commu-nity of Fort Resolution with a higher quality signal and reception free of interference. The CBC also stated that the new transmitter will improve service to the travelling public.
The Commission notes that the CBC will cease operation of CBQD within twelve months following the implementation of the new transmitter.
