Ottawa, 27 June 1991
Decision CRTC 91-421
River Bourgeois Cablevision Limited
River Bourgeois; and Rockdale/L'Ardoise, Nova Scotia - 903169100 - 903171700
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1991-47 dated 2 May 1991, the Commission approves the applications for authority to transfer effective control of River Bourgeois Cablevision Limited, licensee of the cable distribution undertakings serving River Bourgeois and Rockdale/L'Ardoise, through the transfer of all of the issued and outstanding shares of the licensee, currently held by the Kelly family, to Seaside Cable T.V. (1984) Limited (Seaside). As a result of this transaction, Seaside will acquire effective control of River Bourgeois Cablevision Limited.
The purchase price for the shares is approximately $229,500. The exact purchase price will be determined at closing by multiplying the number of basic service subscribers by $850. Based on the evidence filed with the applications, the Commission has no concerns with respect to the availability or the adequacy of the required financing and is satisfied with the benefits identifed by the applicant as flowing from this transaction. The Commission reiterates its longstanding policy that subscribers should not be required to pay higher fees merely because the ownership or control of a cable television system has changed hands.
