CBKA-FM Laronge and its transmitter CBKA-FM-1 Creighton – Technical changes

  1. The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBKA-FM-1 Creighton, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CBKA-FM Laronge, Saskatchewan (Radio One), by increasing the effective radiated power from 267 to 316 watts, decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 34.4 to 30.5 metres, and updating the existing coordinates of the transmitter site. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
  2. The CBC stated that the changes would permit it to combine its Radio One and ICI Première services for Flin Flon and Creighton on a single antenna, thereby optimizing operating costs while offering better coverage of Flin Flon and the surrounding area.
  3. Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
  4. The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 1 August 2021. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
