Cell phone services
Our role is to protect the safety and interest of Canadians while maintaining high-quality communication services at affordable prices.
Ways we oversee the wireless industry:
- enforcing the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules and the National Do Not Call List;
- regulating telecommunications providers, including major telephone companies;
- approving tariffs and certain agreements for the telecommunications sector; and
- encouraging competition in telecommunications markets to ensure that Canadians have a choice of innovative and affordable services.
Providers are responsible for establishing their own retail rates for wireless services, and the CRTC doesn’t intervene.
