Call for comments on the definition of emerging Canadian artists on commercial radio - Extension of deadlines for comments

1. In Broadcasting Public Notice 2008-16, the Commission called for comments on the definition of emerging Canadian artists on commercial radio. The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) has requested extensions of the deadlines for comments because many of its members who are interested in participating will be heavily involved in other major Commission hearings during April and early May. The CAB also indicated that the extra time could prove valuable in developing a possible joint filing with representatives of the Canadian music industry.
2. Due to these considerations, the Commission is extending the deadline for the first round of written comments to 26 May 2008. Those parties that have intervened during the first phase and wish to respond to any of the comments submitted are required to do so by 13 June 2008. Comments received during the second phase that have been filed by parties which did not participate in the first will not be accepted.
