VF2522 Chilliwack - Licence renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the English-language, low-power FM radio programming undertaking VF2522 Chilliwack, from 1 June 20081 to 31 August 2014.

The Commission notes that the licensee has resolved the technical impediments mentioned in Administrative renewals, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-346, 30 August 2007. Also, the Department of Industry has confirmed that it will issue a broadcasting certificate.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in A licensing policy for low-power radio broadcasting, Public Notice CRTC 1993-95, 28 June 1993, as well as to the following conditions:
 
  • The licensee must use the station solely to provide a Tourists/Travellers Advisory Service which integrates current weather forecasts, weather bulletins, highway surface conditions and other travel-safety information, as well as tourist information for the Chilliwack area. This would include announcements that describe recreational, heritage, cultural and commercial opportunities of interest and current visitor attraction information updated as frequently as required to ensure tourists/travellers have access to the most current travel announcements.
 
  • During each clock hour, the licensee may broadcast not more than six minutes of commercial messages.
 
  • The licensee shall not broadcast musical selections, except as incidental background music.
