CHNC New Carlisle and its transmitter CHGM Gaspé - Acquisition of assets

1.

The Commission approves the application by Coopérative des travailleurs CHNC (la Coopérative) to acquire from Radio CHNC ltée the assets of the French-language commercial radio programming undertaking CHNC New Carlisle and its transmitter CHGM Gaspé. The applicant also applied for a licence to continue the operation of the undertaking under the same terms and conditions as those in effect under the current licence.

2.

This transaction will be completed through the dissolution and the wind-up of the assets of Radio CHNC ltée into la Coopérative.

3.

The Commission notes that this transaction will not affect the effective control of CHGM Gaspé, which will continue to be exercised by la Coopérative's board of directors.

4.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

5.

Upon surrender of the current licence issued to Radio CHNC ltée, the Commission will issue a new broadcasting licence to the Coopérative des travailleurs CHNC. The terms and conditions of licence will be the same as those in effect under the current licence.

6.

The Commission reminds the applicant that the Commission requires copies of the current constituting documents for the various corporations involved in the transaction for the purpose of updating its records. Furthermore, the Commission directs the applicant to file within 30 days of this decision, a signed copy of the dissolution document for Radio CHNC ltée.

Employment equity

7.

In accordance with Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy, Public Notice CRTC 1992-59, 1 September 1992, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
