Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-78

  Ottawa, 9 March 2007
  Utilities Consumers' Group Society
Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Administrative renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the English-language developmental community FM radio programming undertaking CJUC-FM Whitehorse, to 20 February 2008, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licence.

2.

Licensees of developmental community radio stations receive licences for a term of four years only. Licensees interested in continuing the operation of their station after this term are expected to file an application with the Commission for a regular community radio licence nine months before their licence expires. This licensee wishes to continue operating the Whitehorse station as a regular English-language FM Type B community radio programming undertaking. The licensee has filed an application for a broadcasting licence with this intent.

3.

The Commission will hear this application at a future public hearing. However, it will not be able to rule on the application before the licence for CJUC-FM Whitehorse expires. The Commission, therefore, is hereby renewing the licence.
