CFMQ-FM Hudson Bay - Licence renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the English-language Type A community radio programming undertaking CFMQ-FM Hudson Bay, from 1 September 2007 to 31 August 2014. The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in the appendix to this decision.

2.

The Commission notes that the composition of the board of directors of this station does not meet the requirements set out in the Community radio policy (Public Notice 2000-13). The Commission expects the board of directors of CFMQ-FM to include more members of the community at large in order to reflect the needs and interests of the community that the station is licensed to serve. The Commission therefore directs the licensee to file a report setting out the composition of the station's board of directors no later than 31 December 2007.

3.

The Commission did not receive any interventions with respect to this application.

2. The licensee shall devote, in each broadcast week, 12% or more of its musical selections from content category 3 (Special interest music) to Canadian selections broadcast in their entirety.

Expectation

The Commission expects the board of directors of CFMQ-FM to include more members of the community at large in order to reflect the needs and interests of the community that the station is licensed to serve. The licensee shall provide to the Commission a report setting out the composition of the station's board of directors no later than 31 December 2007.

Encouragement

Employment Equity

The Commission considers that community radio stations should be particularly sensitive to employment equity issues in order to reflect fully the communities they serve. It encourages the licensee to consider these issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
