Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-183

  Ottawa, 5 May 2006
  Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
North Battleford, Saskatchewan
  Application 2006-0372-1

CBKF-FM Regina and its transmitter CBKF-FM-5 North Battleford - Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of its transmitter CBKF-FM-5 North Battleford, by increasing the effective radiated power from 4,300 watts to 9,600 watts and by increasing the antenna height.
2. The CBC indicated that these changes reflect CBKF-FM-5's technical parameters following the installation of a new antenna with elliptical polarization. The new antenna enables the CBC to offer its La Première Chaîne service originating from CBKF-FM-5 with its new Radio Two service at North Battleford.
3. The Commission notes that the new technical parameters will result in negligible change in coverage.
4. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
