Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-562

  Ottawa, 25 November 2005
  CTV Television Inc.
Lethbridge and Medicine Hat, Alberta
  Application 2005-1075-2

CFCN-TV-5 Lethbridge and its transmitter CFCN-TV-8 Medicine Hat - Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by CTV Television Inc. (CTV) to change the authorized contours of CFCN-TV-5 Lethbridge's transmitter CFCN-TV-8 Medicine Hat, by decreasing the effective radiated power from 6,700 watts to an average effective radiated power of 5,800 watts, by increasing the antenna height and by relocating the transmitter.
2. CTV indicated that its lease for the transmitting facility site has not been renewed and that the contour area that will be produced at the proposed site will replicate as closely as possible the original contour area.
3. The Commission reminds the applicant that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
