Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2004-75

  Ottawa, 6 October 2004
The Commission has received the following application. The deadline for submission of interventions/comments is 26 October 2004.

1.

Red Deer, Alberta
Application No. 2004-0584-6
Application by Jim Pattison Industries Ltd. (Pattison) for the use of frequency 106.7 MHz (channel 294C1) for the operation of its  English-language FM radio programming undertaking at Red Deer.
In Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-117 dated 15 March 2004, the Commission approved the application by Pattison to carry on a new FM radio station at Red Deer. However, the Commission awarded the frequency proposed by Pattison to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for the operation of a transmitter to broadcast the programming of the English-language Radio Two Service at Red Deer.
The decision notes that the Commission would only issue a licence to Pattison if it submitted an application proposing the use of another FM frequency that is acceptable to both the Commission and the Department of Industry. The present application was filed in response to the Commission's proviso.
