Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2004-40

  The Commission has received the following applications. The deadline for interventions/comments is 22 July 2004.

Trois-Pistoles, St-Fabien, Rimouski, Mont-Joli, Matane, Rivière-du-Loup and surrounding areas, Quebec
Application Nos. 2003-1775-2, 2003-1891-6
  Applications by Câblevision TRP-SDM inc. (Câblevision) to renew the licence of its radiocommunication distribution undertaking serving the above-mentioned locations by means of a multi-point distribution (MDS) system, which expires on 31 August 2004.
  The Commission notes that the above-noted markets are presently served by Class 1 cable systems.
  Câblevision is asking to be recognized as a Class 3 licensee.
  The licensee also requests that its authority to distribute on a digital basis be removed and that it be authorized to distribute the following programming services on an analog basis:
  - MétéoMédia, MusiquePlus, VrakTV, Série+, le Canal Z and Canal Vie, as part of its basic service; and
  - Super Écran, as part of its discretionary service.
  The licensee indicated that it would like to distribute these signals in order to remain competitive in its market.
