Telecom Order CRTC 2004-272

  Ottawa, 12 August 2004

MTS Allstream Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 529

Megalink service

1.

The Commission received an application by MTS Communications Inc. (now MTS Allstream Inc. (MTS Allstream)), dated 21 April 2004, to revise General Tariff item 2000, Megalink Service, in order to introduce a new service component that will enable customers served by a remote switch rather than a host switch to obtain Megalink service using a service extension feature. This service feature would be available at a monthly rate that varies with the mileage distance between the rate point of the customer's serving exchange and the rate point of the host switch. A non-recurring service charge associated with establishing the new service feature would also apply.

2.

MTS Allstream noted that Megalink service was classified as a service in the Other capped services basket, in accordance with Regulatory framework for second price cap period, Telecom Decision CRTC 2002-34, 30 May 2002. MTS Allstream stated that it did not file updates to its price cap indices as its application was a proposal for a new service feature.

3.

MTS Allstream filed an imputation test in support of its proposed rates.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission finds that the imputation test is satisfactory.

6.

The Commission approves MTS Allstream's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
