CJQM-FM Sault Ste. Marie - Licence renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CJQM-FM Sault Ste. Marie, from 1 September 2004 to 31 August 2011. The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in New licence form for commercial radio stations, Public Notice CRTC 1999-137, 24 August 1999, with the exception of condition of licence 10.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

The Commission reminds the licensee that it must continue to fulfil the commitments related to the development of Canadian talent set out in Rogers acquires the assets of radio stations and a radio network in Ontario, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2002-92, 19 April 2002, in which the Commission approved the application by Rogers Broadcasting Limited to acquire the assets of a number of Ontario radio stations, including CJQM-FM, from Standard Radio Inc. The Commission expects the licensee to file a report at the conclusion of the seven-year benefits period mentioned in the above-noted decision.

The licensee is authorized to broadcast a weekly maximum of 30 minutes of French-language content consisting exclusively of advertising material.

Because this licensee is subject to the Employment Equity Act and files reports concerning employment equity with theDepartment of Human Resources and Skills Development, its employment equity practices are not examined by the Commission.
