Telecom Order CRTC 2003-403

  Ottawa, 1 October 2003

TELUS Communications Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 116

Central office link arrangements for interconnecting Canadian carriers

1.

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 18 August 2003, to revise Carrier Access Services Tariff item 211, Central Office Link Arrangements for Interconnecting Canadian Carriers, in order to introduce a channelizing feature specific to DS-1 and DS-3 central office links in Alberta and British Columbia.

2.

TCI filed the application pursuant to a Commission staff letter dated 1 August 2003 where the Commission ordered TCI to deliver channelization service to Allstream Corp. on DS-3 co-location connecting links.

3.

TCI also requested that, pursuant to subsection 25(4) of the Telecommunications Act (the Act), the Commission ratify the rates associated with DS-1 and DS-3 central office link channelization features provided from 1 January 2002 to the approval of this application.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission notes that the monthly rates and service charges for which TCI is seeking ratification are the same as those approved for the company's channelization features under the digital network access service offers in Alberta and British Columbia during the ratification period requested.

6.

The Commission approves TCI's application and ratifies pursuant to subsection 25(4) of the Act the charging of a rate by TCI otherwise in accordance with a tariff approved by the Commission. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
