Telecom Order CRTC 2003-368

  Ottawa, 8 September 2003

TELUS Communications Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 114

Pay telephone access line service

1.

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 25 July 2003, to amalgamate the tariff items associated with pay telephone access line service.

2.

TCI proposed to amalgamate the former TCI Carrier Access Tariff item 416, Public Telephone Access Line Service, TELUS Communications (Edmonton) Inc. General Tariff item 5075, Public Telephone Access Line Service and TELUS Communications (B.C.) Inc. General Tariff item 185, Pay Telephone Basic Access Line Service, to TCI General Tariff item 216, Pay Telephone Access Line Service.

3.

TCI submitted that the amalgamation of these services into the pay telephone access line (PAL) service would have no impact on how the service would be provisioned in Alberta and British Columbia. The company also submitted that it is not proposing any rate changes.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission notes that in Canadian Payphone Association - Application regarding the amalgamation of the Pay Telephone Access Line tariffs of TELUS Communications Inc., Telecom Decision CRTC 2003-44, 27 June 2003 (Decision 2003-44), TCI was directed to file a proposed amalgamated PAL tariff. The Commission is satisfied that TCI's application complies with the directive established in Decision 2003-44.

6.

The Commission approves TCI's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
