Telecom Order CRTC 2003-276

  Ottawa, 9 July 2003

Bruce Municipal Telephone System

  Reference: Tariff Notice 102

Seasonal service options

1.

The Commission received an application by Bruce Municipal Telephone System (BMTS), dated 12 May 2003, to revise item 4.0, Rate Schedules for Primary Exchange (Local) Service, under section 100 of its General Tariff in order to offer the following three types of seasonal service to its subscribers:

- service automatically connected on 1 May and disconnected on 31 October for $14.95 for 12 monthly payments, and payment for such service must be made by pre-authorized payments;

- service automatically connected on 1 April and disconnected on 30 November for $16.95 for 12 monthly payments, and payment for such service must be made by pre-authorized payments; and

- service automatically connected on 1 March and disconnected on 31 December for $18.95 for 12 monthly payments, and payment for such service must be made by pre-authorized payments.

2.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

3.

The Commission notes that in Regulatory framework for the small incumbent telephone companies, Decision CRTC 2001-756, 14 December 2001 (Decision 2001-756), it assigned the service in question to the fourth price cap service basket. The Commission also determined that rates for such service would generally be permitted to increase up to any already approved rate for the same service.

4.

The Commission notes that the proposed rates were previously approved by the Commission for the same service provided by other companies and, therefore, are in accordance with Decision 2001-756.

5.

The Commission approves BMTS's application. The revisions take effect as the date of this order.

6.

BMTS is to issue a revised tariff page forthwith to reflect these changes.
