CBME-FM Montréal - Technical change

1.

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to increase the authorized contours and decrease the effective radiated power of its transmitter CBMG-FM Cowansville from 3,400 watts to 2,700 watts.

2.

The licensee indicated that the proposed change is necessary since the original site proposed for CBMG-FM approved in Addition of a transmitter and denial of a community radio station, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2002-128, 6 May 2002, is unavailable and that it will share with Bell Mobility a site located 3.8 km northwest of Sutton. As the antenna will be at a higher elevation, this will result in a slight increase in the coverage area.

3.

The Commission did not receive any intervention in connection with this application.

4.

The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

5.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
