Asymmetric digital subscriber line access service

1.

The Commission received an application by Amtelecom Inc. (Amtelecom), dated 6 May 2002, to add item 10, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line Access Service (ADSL), under section 900 of its General Tariff in order to introduce this service.

Amtelecom noted that ADSL is a transmission technology that provides high-speed transmission of data between the end-users and the service provider and allows end-users to simultaneously receive telephone service over the common copper loop.

Amtelecom proposed to offer the ADSL service at a monthly rate of $10, in addition to a $100 service charge. The company indicated that this service would be available in selected wire centres (host switch or switch remote) subject to the availability of suitable facilities and conditions of service.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The Commission approves Amtelecom's application.The revisions take effect as of the date of this order

6.

Amtelecom is to issue forthwith revised tariff pages to reflect these changes.
