SmartTouch services promotional campaigns

1.

The Commission approves the application by Télébec ltée (Télébec), dated 7 December 2001, to revise General Tariff item 3.3.18, SmartTouch services, with respect to thepromotional campaigns offered in 2002. The revisions provide for the continuation ofthe following threepromotions in 2002:

- "La course aux Étoiles", offeringeligible single line residentialor business customers in designated areasany SmartTouch service free of charge for a trial period ofone month;

- "Offre de bienvenue", offeringnew single line residential and business customers, and customers who are moving, any three SmartTouch services free of charge for atrial period ofone month; and

- "Introduction des services Étoiles", offeringsingle line residentialand business customers in areasserved by newly modernized switching equipment,any SmartTouch service free of charge for a trial period ofone month.

The revisions also serve to introduce two promotions under "Campagnes permanentes 2002" offering residential customers who purchase a telephone set from thecompany's catalogue:

- a $5 rebate on the purchase price of the telephone set if the customersubscribes to any of the eligible SmartTouch services;or

- two SmartTouch services free of charge for a trial period ofone month.

The Commission reminds Télébec that, effective 1 September 2002, the Company will be required to demonstrate that any new offering is a legitimate market trial or promotion that has a limited duration, in order to be exempted from the requirement to file an imputation test and its results.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
