The applicant proposes to offer programming focused exclusively on professional athletes, teams and organisations; and to provide opportunities for viewers to buy related sports merchandise and collectibles.

 

Programming will include biographies, dramas and sports talk programs focusing on athletes and the business of sports. Surrounding this programming will be Sports Vault's core show focusing on sports merchandise and collectibles.

 

The applicant suggests that no more than 25% of all programming broadcast during the broadcast week shall be drawn from programming category 7 and no more than 15% would consist of categories 7c and 7d.

 

Sports Vault TV will not air live professional or amateur sports events other than those it creates and produces. The applicant also states that it intends to create or produce no more than 10 original hours per week.

The new station would operate on frequency 88.5 MHz (channel 203A) with an effective radiated power of 960 watts.

 

The applicant is requesting authorization to simulcast the programming of CKCI on the new FM station for a period of three months from the date of implementation.

 

The Commission will only proceed with this application at the public hearing if advised by the Department of Industry, at least ten days prior to the hearing, that it is technically acceptable.

In exceptional circumstances, the Commission may allow an intervenor to present its intervention by teleconference. At the time of filing its intervention, the intervenor must clearly indicate why the Commission should grant such a request.
