MuchLoud

 

On 24 November 2000, the Commission approved a new Category 2 specialty television service to be known as MuchLoud. The terms and conditions generally applicable to Category 2 services are set out in the public notice accompanying this and other decisions released today.

 

Conditions of licence

 

The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2007 and will be subject to the following conditions as well as to those set out in both Public Notice CRTC 2000-171 andin the licence to be issued.

 

Nature of service

 

a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 music video specialty television service dedicated exclusively to alternative, hard rock, metal and punk music or alternative music-related programming.

 

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990:
1, 2a, 2b, 3, 4, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d, 7e, 7f, 7g, 8a, 8b, 8c, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14.

 

c) No less than 65% of all programming broadcast during the broadcast week shall be drawn from categories 8b and 8c.

 

d) No more than 15% of all programming broadcast during the broadcast week shall be drawn from category 7.

 

Definitions

 

Broadcast day refers to the 24-hour period beginning 6 a.m. each day.
