The Commission will hold a public hearing commencing on 20 December 2000, at the Commission Headquarters, 1 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec, to consider the following:

Application (2000-2175-9) by CANWEST TELEVISION INC.

 

CanWest Television Inc. has filed an application requesting the authority to effect a transfer of assets. CanWest Television Inc. intends to transfer its television broadcasting undertaking CKVU-TV Vancouver and its retransmitter to its new wholly-owned subsidiary, CKVU Sub Inc.

 

This transaction follows the Commission's correspondence dated 7 November 2000 whereby CanWest Television Inc. was required to file with the Commission an application for a corporate reorganization in relation to the assets and the broadcasting licences of CKVU-TV and its retransmitter. The transfer is being undertaken to permit CanWest Television Inc. to place CKVU in trust.
