Ottawa, 26 February 1999

Northern Native Broadcasting, Yukon
Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Eighteen-month renewal

1. The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for Type B native radio programming undertaking CHON-FM Whitehorse and its transmitters, from 1 March 1999 to 31 August 2000, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licence.

2. The Commission has granted an administrative renewal in order to consider the renewal of this licence following the review of its native broadcasting policy.

3. The decision released today does not dispose of any substantive concerns that the Commission may have with respect to the renewal of this licence. When the Commission receives a licence renewal application, it will announce it and interested parties will then have an opportunity to comment.
