Telecom Order

Ottawa, 22 May 1998
Telecom Order CRTC 98-498
On 24 March 1998, Sogetel inc. (Sogetel) filed an application for approval of tariff revisions pursuant to the Commission's letter of 13 August 1997, pertaining to the following bill management tools: toll restriction, the late payment charge and a six-month instalment payment plan for connection charges.
File No.: Tariff Notice 71
1. Sogetel requested that these tariff revisions be approved with an effective date of 30 September 1997. The company noted that its subscribers would in no way be prejudiced.
2. The Commission observes that Sogetel issued tariff pages incorporating these revisions on 11 September 1997. The Commission notes that the company assumed that these revisions had been approved by Local Service Pricing Options, Telecom Decision CRTC 96-10, 15 November 1996.
3. The Commission agrees with Sogetel that its subscribers would not be prejudiced by the application of the proposed rates effective 30 September 1997.
4. The Commission considers that the toll restriction tariff should indicate whether the service blocks third number billing and collect calls.
5. The Commission notes that the late payment charge tariff should indicate the interest rate payable in addition to the formula on which it is based.
6. In light of the above, the Commission orders that:
(a) the proposed tariff revisions are approved conditional on the additional information specified in paragraphs 4 and 5 being part of the tariff;
(b) pursuant to subsection 25(4) of the Telecommunications Act, the rates charged by Sogetel for these services from 30 September 1997 to the date of this Order are ratified; and
(c) Sogetel issue revised tariff pages within 15 days of the date of this Order.
