On 6 October 1998, BC TEL filed an application for approval of tariff revisions to Supplemental Services Tariff Items 143, SmartTouch Services and 168-A, Integrated Voice Messaging Service, introducing a new promotional offer, Free for 30 Days/Try One Get Another Promotion, allowing residential and business individual line customers who have selected BC TEL as their Primary Interexchange Carrier (PIC) and Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) to subscribe to either Call Waiting, Call Display Plus, Call Answer or Call Answer Plus at no charge for the initial 30 days of a new subscription to the selected feature, and allow residential and business individual line customers who have BC TEL as their LEC but another carrier as their PIC for long distance services to try either of the selected features at no charge for the initial 30 days of a new subscription to the selected feature if they already have, or subscribe to, one of the other features available under this offer at the regular tariffed rates. The offer is scheduled to commence on 6 November 1998 and conclude within a twelve-month period.

In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:
The proposed tariff revisions to become effective on 6 November 1998 are approved.
