Decision

Ottawa, 22 September 1998
Decision CRTC 98-439
Fundy Cable Ltd./Ltée
Campbellton and Dalhousie, New Brunswick - 199802674 - 199802731
Signal distribution changes
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1998-69 dated 16 July 1998, the Commission approves the applications to amend the broadcasting licences for the cable distribution undertaking serving Campbellton and Dalhousie. The Commission authorizes the licensee, by condition of licence, to distribute, at its option, the programming services of WCVB-TV (ABC) and WBZ-TV (CBS) Boston, Massachusetts, as part of the basic service. The Commission notes that the licensee will receive these signals via satellite and that it will cease distribution of WVII-TV (ABC) and WABI-TV (CBS) Bangor, Maine.
2. The Commission also authorizes the licensee to distribute the programming services of distant Canadian stations CIHF-TV-2 (IND) Saint John and CFTF-TV-1 (TQS) Edmundston, as part of the basic service. The Commission notes that the licensee will receive these signals by optical fibre from its Bathurst undertaking.
3. The licensee may receive any authorized signals over the air, or from any licensed or exempted Canadian broadcasting distribution undertaking authorized to provide signals to other broadcasting distribution undertakings.
4. NBTel Inc. filed an intervention wherein it stated that the licensee had already put into effect the changes for which it was seeking approval. In this regard, the Commission reminds Fundy Ltd./Ltée that it must obtain prior Commission approval for any such changes to its distribution list.
This decision is to be appended to each licence.
