Decision

Ottawa, 6 August 1998
Decision CRTC 98-235
WIC Premium Television Ltd.
Administrative renewal
1. For administrative reasons, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the English-language, general interest pay television programming undertaking for the distribution of a pay-per-view (PPV) service, via satellite to cable affiliates in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory, from 1 September 1998 to 28 February 1999, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licence.
2. The Commission notes that the renewal application by WIC Premium Television Ltd. (formerly Allarcom Pay Television Limited) for the PPV service was published in Public Notice CRTC 1997-36, dated 7 April 1997, although that notice did not make reference to amendments to the licence which were proposed by the licensee. The licence was subsequently administratively renewed, from 1 September 1997 to 31 August 1998 (Decision CRTC 97-386, 8 August 1997). Public Notice CRTC 1998-83 published today sets out the proposed amendments to the PPV service's licence.
3. This further administrative renewal is granted solely to allow interested parties a further opportunity to provide comments on the proposed amendments. It does not in any manner dispose of the licence renewal application, nor of any relevant matters before the Commission in connection with that application. The Commission will dispose of the application, and all other relevant matters in connection with the application, in a subsequent decision.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
