Telecom Order

Ottawa, 21 February 1997
Telecom Order CRTC 97-235
IN THE MATTER OF an application filed by TELUS Communications (Edmonton) Inc. (TCEI) under Tariff Notice 42 dated 16 December 1996, for approval of tariff revisions to modify the interest rate applicable to late payment charges pursuant to Local Service Pricing Options, Telecom Decision CRTC 96-10, 15 November 1996 (Decision 96-10).
WHEREAS Decision 96-10 directed the companies to show cause why the interest rate applicable to late payment charges should not be based on a formula such as that approved by the Commission for Bell Canada (Bell) and BC TEL;
WHEREAS TCEI proposed to adopt the interest formula applicable to late payment charges approved by the Commission for Bell and BC TEL;
WHEREAS the Commission notes that the company's proposed tariff does not indicate either the interest rate or the formula by which it can be derived; and
WHEREAS the Commission is of the view that the late payment charge tariff provision should either indicate the effective rate of interest or the formula used to derive it -
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:
1. The proposed tariff revisions to become effective on 1 April 1997 are approved subject to Item 1533.1 being modified to show either the effective rate of interest or the formula by which the effective rate can be derived.
2. TCEI is to issue revised tariff pages reflecting the modification in 1 above, within 10 days of the date of this Order.
