Decision

Ottawa, 31 July 1997
Decision CRTC 97-364
BBS Ontario Incorporated
Pembroke and Ottawa, Ontario- 199618089
Increase in power for CHRO-TV-43
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1997-43 dated 24 April 1997, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CHRO-TV Pembroke by increasing the effective radiated power of its transmitter CHRO-TV-43 Ottawa from 231,000 watts to 282,000 watts and by relocating the authorized transmitter from a site near Dunrobin to the existing CFMT-TV-2 tower site near Manotick.
2. The Commission notes that as a result of these changes the authorized coverage area would shift to the south-east. The Commission hereby authorizes the licensee to operate the undertaking on the basis of the contours and particulars resulting from the above-mentioned changes.
3. The Commission notes that the requirement to commence operations as licensed in every respect in Decision CRTC 96-542 within twelve months of that decision remains unchanged and that any delay in commencement would require approval of the Commission.
4. The Commission acknowledges the intervention submitted by Radio Nord inc., licensee of CHOT-TV Hull, with respect to this application. The intervener requested that the Commission impose a condition of licence on the operation of CHRO-TV-43 in order to protect the signal of CHOT-TV. The Commission is satisfied that the licensee has adequately addressed the issues raised in the Radio Nord inc. intervention. The Commission also notes that the Department of Industry has certified this proposal without imposing any specific conditions.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
