Public Notice

Ottawa, 14 February 1996
Public Notice CRTC 1996-20
The Commission has received the following applications:
ONTARIO REGION
1. OTTAWA/TORONTO, Ontario
Application (952167500) by the CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION to amend the broadcasting licence of the (Television) programming undertaking CBOFT Ottawa, by decreasing the effective radiated power of its retransmitter CBLFT Toronto from 1,760,000 to 615,600 watts.
The licensee states that this change should result in only a small reduction in the station's coverage contours with virtually no effect regarding the service provided to the populated area. Those areas that will not be covered by CBLFT will be provided a good signal by either CBLFT-8 Kitchener, CBLFT-11 Barrie or CBLFT-12 Peterborough, Ontario.

Toronto, Ontario
2. SUDBURY/SAULT STE. MARIE, Ontario
Application (951646900) by the CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CBON-FM Sudbury, by increasing the effective radiated power of its Sault Ste. Marie transmitter (CBON-FM-18) from 1,700 to 3,590 watts.
The licensee also proposes to increase the effective height of the antenna system. The changes would result in the upgrading of the channel from Class A to Class B (Limited). Although the coverage area will slightly increase, the licensee has indicated that estimates of the population within the authorized contours will remain unchanged.
The licensee has also indicated that this change will improve the quality of signal to the Sault Ste. Marie area.
