Decision

Ottawa, 29 October 1996
Decision CRTC 96-723
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Haileybury, Ontario - 952688000
Licence amendment for CBCS-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-119 dated 28 August 1996, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CBCS-FM Sudbury, by authorizing the licensee to add an FM transmitter at Haileybury, operating on frequency 102.3 MHz (channel 272A) with an effective radiated power of 780 watts.
The CBC has advised that this transmitter will be used to distribute the CBC service provided by CJTT New Liskeard, which will disaffiliate from the CBC.
The CBC further advised that the proposed transmitter will also provide the CBCS-FM service to Latchford. The CBC will therefore cease operation of its low-power AM transmitter CBLQ Latchford no later than twelve months following the successful implementation of the proposed FM transmitter.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
