Licence amendment
Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-99 dated 12 July 1996, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving the above-noted localities, by adding the following condition of licence, pursuant to section 19 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986, authorizing the licensee to alter the signals of certain Canadian and U.S. programming services on a temporary basis to test a severe weather alert system:
 For the purposes of the pilot trial of the All Channel Alert (ACA) system, the licensee is authorized, by condition of licence, and for a single period not exceeding eight consecutive weeks, to alter the signal of any specialty service and any Part II eligible satellite service that it distributes, for the purpose of inserting crawler messages delivered by the ACA system with the prior consent in writing of such a programming service.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
