 Licence renewals
Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-13 dated 19 January 1996, the Commission renews the licences held by Via Câble de la Vallée inc., for the cable distribution undertakings serving the above-noted localities, from 1 September 1996 to 31 August 2003.
The operation of these undertakings is regulated pursuant to Parts I, III and IV of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) and the licences will be subject to the conditions in effect under the current licences, as well as to those conditions specified in this decision and in the licences to be issued.
Consistent with Decision CRTC 90-398 dated 26 April 1990, the licensee is relieved, by condition of licence of the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(a) of the regulations to distribute, at Lac-Humqui, local services CIVB-TV (SRTQ) and CFER-TV (TVA) Rimouski in view of the poor reception quality of these signals, as confirmed by the Department of Industry. Instead, the licensee proposes to distribute the programming of CIVM-TV (SRTQ) Montréal, received via satellite and CHAU-TV-1 (TVA) Sainte-Marguerite-Marie, a priority signal.
Lac-Humqui; Saint-Cléophas; Saint-Damase; and Sainte-Marguerite-Marie
It is a condition of each licence that the licensee be relieved of the requirement that it distribute at least four television programming services as provided for in section 23 of the regulations, so long as it distributes only those U.S. television services listed in the current application or as may be authorized by the Commission.
Saint-Tharcisius; Saint-Moïse and Saint-Noël and surrounding areas
It is a condition of each licence that the licensee be relieved of the requirement that it distribute at least four television programming services as provided for in section 23 of the regulations, so long as it distributes only the television signals listed in the current application.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Imple-mentation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
This decision is to be appended to each licence.
