Decision

Ottawa, 13 January 1995
Decision CRTC 95-8
Regional Cable TV (Central) Inc.
Sainte-Pétronille (Île d'Orléans), Quebec - 940761000
Licence renewal
Following a Public Hearing in Montréal beginning on 11 October 1994, the Commission renews the Class 2 (fewer than 2,000 subscribers) licence held by Regional Cable TV (Central) Inc., for the cable distribution undertaking serving Sainte-Pétronille, from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 2001.
Although the licence term granted herein is less than the maximum of seven years permitted by the Broadcasting Act, this is for the purpose of enabling the Commission to consider the next licence renewal of this undertaking in accordance with the Commission's regional plan and to better distribute the workload within the Commission.
As a consequence of amendments to the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) announced in Public Notice CRTC 1994-7 dated 3 February 1994, the operation of this Class 2 cable distribution undertaking with fewer than 2,000 subscribers is now regulated pursuant to Parts I and III of the regulations, with the exception of the requirements stipulated in section 23.
In addition to the services required or authorized to be distributed pursuant to the applicable sections of the regulations, the licensee is authorized to continue to distribute, at its option, CFCF-TV (CTV) and CFTU-TV (IND) Montréal, WVNY (ABC) Burlington, Vermont, WCAX-TV (CBS) and WPTZ (NBC) Plattsburgh, New York, received via microwave, as well as WCFE-TV (PBS) Burlington, Vermont, received by optical fibre, as part of the basic service.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. It encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
