Decision

Ottawa, 1 March 1995
Decision CRTC 95-76
Regional Cable TV (Atlantic) Inc.
West Bay, Newfoundland - 941645400
Licence amendment
Following Public Notice CRTC 1994-156 dated 22 December 1994, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving West Bay, by deleting the condition of licence requiring the licensee to distribute the signal of the Atlantic Television System Ltd. (ASN), on a unrestricted channel of the basic service.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention submitted by ASN regarding this application. In this regard, the Commission notes that the licensee will distribute ASN on channel 8 of the basic service and consequently, that it will be offered to all cable subscribers in the area. Should the quality of the signal deteriorate significantly, the Commission expects the licensee to undertake immediate corrective action including, if necessary, the distribution of the service on another channel.
In addition, the licensee is relieved, by condition of licence, of the requirement of subsection 22(1) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 that it distribute the signal of the local station CBFNT (SRC) Port-au-Port. The Commission notes that the licensee will distribute instead the CBC French-language service, received via satellite.
