Decision

Ottawa, 6 July 1995
Decision CRTC 95-395
Rural STV 1 Limited
Tracadie, Nova Scotia - 940889900
Licence renewal for CKPW-TV
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-10 dated 20 January 1995, the Commission renews the licence for the community television programming undertaking, CKPW-TV Tracadie, from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 2002, subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
Rural STV 1 Limited is also the licensee of the radiocommunication distribution undertaking serving Tracadie which uses low-power television transmitters to distribute in encrypted mode, television signals received via satellite.
Consistent with Decision CRTC 94-42 dated 16 February 1994, the licensee is relieved, by condition of licence, of the requirements of section 10 of the Television Broadcasting Regulations, 1987 with regard to the retention of program logs or records.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. It considers that community stations should be particularly sensitive to this issue in order to reflect fully the communities they serve. It encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
