Licence renewal
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-10 dated 20 January 1995, the Commission renews the Class 2 (fewer than 2,000 subscribers) licence held by Bragg Communications Incorporated, for the cable distribution undertaking serving the above-noted localities, from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 2002.
With the exception of the requirements stipulated in section 23 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations), the operation of this undertaking is regulated pursuant to Parts I and III of the regulations and the licence will be subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
The licensee is authorized, by condition of licence, to distribute the programming service of the Atlantic Satellite Network (ASN), received via satellite, provided that it is distributed on an unrestricted channel of the basic service.
Pursuant to subsection 24(2) of the regulations, the licensee is authorized, by condition of licence, to distribute the service comprising the proceedings of the House of Commons on the community channel at times when community programming is not being distributed. Pursuant to paragraph 25(a) of the regulations, the licensee is authorized, by condition of licence, to curtail the signal of this service as necessitated by community programming requirements.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
