Licence amendments
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-30 dated 23 February 1995, the Commission approves the applications to amend the licences of the cable distribution undertakings serving Bay L'Argent, Calvert, Cape Broyle and St. Bernard's by relieving the licensee, by condition of licence, from the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(a) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 to distribute the programming of all local television stations.
The licensee will distribute instead only one English-language CBC and/or CTV network signal. The station distributed in each community is indicated below:
Location/Endroit Call sign/Indicatif d'appel
Bay L'Argent CBNT-27 (CBC) Bay L'Argent
Calvert CFFE-TV (CTV) Ferryland
CBNT-TV (CBC) St. John's
Cape Broyle CJON-TV (CTV) St. John's
CHCB-TV-1 (CBC) Cape Broyle
St. Bernard's CBNT-30 (CBC) St. Bernard's
Should any of the local stations for which an exemption is granted herein, begin offering local programming, the licensee will be required to distribute the local station in question, on the basic service of its undertaking or apply to the Commission for a further exemption.
The Commission approves the applications to delete the condition of licence requiring the licensee to distribute the signal of the Atlantic Satellite Network (ASN), on a unrestricted channel of the basic service of the undertakings serving Bay L'Argent, Calvert, Cape Broyle, Holyrood, Port de Grave and St. Bernard's. Should the quality of the signal deteriorate significantly, the Commission expects the licensee to undertake immediate corrective action including, if necessary, the distribution of the service on another channel.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention by ASN regarding these applications as well as the licensee's reply to the intervention.

Secretary General
