Decision

Ottawa, 13 April 1995
Decision CRTC 95-153
Lindsay CATV System Limited
Lindsay, Ontario - 941587800
Relief from the requirement to distribute CKPT Peterborough
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-28 dated 21 February 1995, the Commission approves, by condition of licence, the licensee's request to be relieved from the requirement of paragraph 16(2)(a) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 that it distribute the local service of CKPT Peterborough, in view of the poor reception quality of the station's night-time signal.
In support of its request, the licensee stated that, while the reception quality of CKPT's signal is acceptable during the day, it is significantly impaired during the hours of darkness. According to the licensee, the impairment to CKPT's signal is a result of the station's low transmitter power and directional antenna pattern, as well as static and strong sky wave signals from distant stations operating on the same frequency.
