Decision

Ottawa, 28 January 1994
Decision CRTC 94-15
Association canadienne-française de l'Ontario-Conseil régional de
Nipissing
North Bay, Ontario - 932242100
Special event licence
Following a Public Hearing in Calgary beginning on 25 January 1994, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for a French-language FM community radio programming undertaking at North Bay on the frequency 93.5 MHz (channel 228), with an effective radiated power of 30 watts, to broadcast programs during various winter carnival activities in the District of
Nipissing.
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-38 dated 29 May 1992 entitled "Policies for Community and Campus Radio", the Commission will issue a licence for a Type A community radio station, which will be in effect on 29 and 30 January 1994, subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
The Department of Communications (DOC) has advised that the undertaking will broadcast on the frequency 93.5 MHz and will have an effective radiated power of 30 watts rather than on the frequency 88.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 25 watts, as had been indicated in CRTC Notice of Public Hearing 1993-10 dated 26 November 1993.
The DOC has also advised the Commission that this application is condi- tionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DOC that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
